Learning how to write reports about a scientific experiment.

Kia ora.

We are having a science fair this term so we needed to learn how to write a report about a scientific experiment. Our teachers chopped a piece of scientific writing into bits and we had to sort them out into the right order. We had to match the structure clues with the correct sentences and paragraphs. It was tricky. When we were finished we used the report to carry out a floating and sinking experiment using Blutack. The Blutack wouldn’t float unless we squeezed  it into the shape of a boat. My group said it was fun but I missed out because I was at the dentist. Here is a picture.

Te Reo Rerenga

Kia Ora bloggers.

Yesterday we started doing more Maori on Rerenga which means Flow in English. We were allowed to do it with partners or do it by ourselves. I did it with my friend Kyra. We had to write the Maori proverb first then under that we had to write what it means in English.

Scientific writing

Kia ora
We are learning how to read and write scientific reports. We have been doing experiments and writing about them. This is a reading activity we did. We had to be able to match a title for a report with a wondering question.

Freezing Water.

Floating and Sinking.
What will happen to an ice cube if you take it out of the freezer?

Auckland Zoofari.

Kia Ora.
This week we went to Auckland zoo on a Zoofari trip.
We slept in the old elephant house. Here is a photo of my group. And also some animals.

Here is my group at MacDonald's.

I am working on an animal report. My animal is a cheetah and I saw two of them having their morning walk. They were bigger  than I thought they would be.
We had a night walk at 7.45 pm to see all the night animals. It was very fun.
Here is a funny photo of a bird on Mrs B's head.
